Fire Control Room
Fire Control Room is the back bone of Fire & Emergency Service Organization. It is completely a separate and distinct entity, in the Organization. In other State the Fire Control Room is established separately and usually not located within a Fire Station. The Fire Control Room is mainly responsible for bridging the communication between the general public who are in distress and requires the service of the Organization in case of Fire Emergency, or any other disasters.
Fire Control Room receives the information of incidents from general public and relays the information to the nearest Fire Station under whose jurisdiction the incident took place for mobilization of Fire Fighting Crew and appliances to the place of occurrence within shortest possible time and also plays an important role to provide reinforcement in the fire ground in terms of manpower, equipments and appliances by collecting information from the fire ground and relaying it to the Fire Stations.
The personnel manning the Fire Control Room are required to be well qualified and must have the capacity to deal with the general public while extracting information pertaining to outbreak of any fire incident or any other disaster. They are required to work and keep vigilance 24 X7 round the clock. Fire & Emergency Service Organization in Eastern Range is having the main Fire Control Room located at Shillong Fire Station building.
At present 6 (six) personnel closed from various Fire Stations are manning the Fire Control Room in 8 hours duty basis 24 X 7 round the clock under the Supervision of Sub Officer Sambhu Ram, Officer In Charge, Fire Control Room.
COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND MANAGEMENT OF FIRE CONTROL ROOM:
The Fire Control Room is equipped with 2 (two) Nos. of BSNL Land Line Connection and 1 (one) Hot Line Number 101 connected with 5 (five) additional lines to receive the calls from general public in distress.
Beside Landline Connections, the Fire Control Room is also equipped with 2 (Two) sets of VHF Static Sets for connecting directly with the Police Control Room and also with the Traffic Branch during fire emergencies.
